Getting You All Caught Up (The Last Ultrasound)!

Image
Finally coming back to this!! We left off at 38 weeks, concerned about low fluid, the last ultrasound, and induction. Boy, were we in for a whirlwind of surprises that weekend! Appointment day came, Friday August 7th, and with it my last belly photo. She looks soooo low here! I remember waking up in a rush, having to get into town quickly, nursing Levi for "the last time" before having her (haha), and generally just not feeling as prepared as I needed to be. Everything - and I do mean everything - for my hospital bags packed into the car (we were half prepared/willing to beg the midwives to start us off that day if my fluid was still low - everything was in place, if it was going to happen it might as well when we're all prepared for it rather than wait until the following morning). Then there was a lot of waiting around, waiting for the call that we could come in for our ultrasound. The plan was one final ultrasound whenever they could squeeze me in, immediat...

19 weeks - Ultrasound & Gender Reveal TOMORROW!!

Image
I am apparently horrible at blogging - between journaling to the baby, updating Facebook, filming/editing/putting up videos, and trying to update my 3 blogs, all while caring for a crazy 19 month old and a growing belly, my days are long and busy!! I am 19 weeks 1 day today, and let me just say, it's been a great week <3 One think I've been loving this week is a new photo editing app, PicLab, where these beautiful babies were made: And waiting in anxious anticipation for our anatomy scan, which was on Wednesday, March 25th. The things I felt most while waiting for this scan have been: 1) I can't believe it's here already, I remember beginning to plan the gender reveal and putting in the requisition for the scan, and now it's here! I feel like my entire pregnancy (and even before) I have been waiting for this stage of pregnancy, 17 weeks and beyond, where I begin to feel movement, my fiance could feel movement, we see the baby (so much bigger than at o...

12 Weeks - Pregnant Vlogger Extraordinaire!

Hello, and welcome to the Pregnant Doula! I've been very busy this week, namely turning my dream (beyond motherhood, doula-ing and blogging) of video blogging into a reality. It took a lot longer than I thought - I filmed several videos on Thursday, the day I turned 12 weeks, with minor interruptions including toddlers waking up from naps and cameras dying. I finally got them all filmed though - with no time to edit! Friday and Saturday were spent editing, while also deterring my crazy toddler from destroying my house while I try to sit at the computer for more than 10 seconds at a time - not an easy feat! Finally, Saturday night & today, Sunday, were spent uploading the 7 video segments I ended up having to upload separately (I had planned for 3), but I was met with success! I have uploaded catch up videos for the previous weeks, as well as a 12 Week video to bring my brand new Youtube channel up to speed, much like my previous posts here. Watch "The Pregnant...

Introduction! Finding Out...

Image
Hello! Welcome to my new blog ~ The Pregnant Doula! Okay, so I'm not a doula yet. I'm a "novice" doula - a doula in training. In fact, I started a blog titled The Novice Doula in October, 2014, chronicalling my journey to becoming a positive birth support for labouring mothers. You can find it at www.thenovicedoula.blogspot.ca Unfortunately I had to take a little break from my doula journey, as we moved in November, 2014, and just as we were settling into our new home in December, we got a big surprise (which you've probably guessed by now)... We're pregnant!! A little backstory: I had our son in August 2013, and absolutely loved my pregnancy/birth with him. I always felt so beautiful, so natural, so connected to him, so empowered.    I went to 41 weeks, 1 day with him, and had a beautiful, perfect, drug free natural birth in hospital, an experience I wouldn't change for the world (you can read about it in my October 13th and...
